About Annie

Annie Powell is an educator, consultant, and author who has spent more than 35 years helping people discover how they think, learn, and communicate—and how to honor the unique gifts that make each person who they are.
A graduate of Smith College and the Harvard Graduate School of Education, she began her career teaching fifth grade in Colorado, where her fascination with the diversity of human learning first took root.
Her lifelong collaboration with mentor Dawna Markova, Ph.D., led to the development of the Mind Patterns approach and the co-authoring of two books for parents, How Your Child IS Smart and Learning Unlimited.
Today, she brings her work to children and teens, families, educators, and organizations of all sizes, guiding them to understand themselves and each other.
Whether as a speaker, facilitator, coach, or thinking partner, she offers gentle clarity, deep insight, and a belief in the brilliance that lives within everyone.
In her spare time, Annie loves to be with her grandson, Cillian, follow major league baseball, listen and dance to music, and walk in nature, especially near the ocean in Southern California.
